The CVM Library supports the educational goals of the College of Veterinary Medicine by providing access to print and electronic materials in all core areas of Veterinary Science, as well as some general medicine.

Any card holder may borrow books and AV materials
Reference works may be borrowed at our discretion

Pegasus Yearbooks

Free digital access to every issue of the Pegasus, the College of Veterinary Medicine's yearbook

Journals

Over 300 print and 400 online journal titles
Print journals are shelved alphabetically by title on the shelves at the rear of the library upon entering; new issues are located on the first row.
Graduate students, faculty and staff may check out bound journal volumes for 24 hours

Theses and Dissertations

CVM theses and dissertations in print are located in the front of the journals section of the library
Many more online in the ProQuest Theses & Dissertations Database; limit your search to MSU items by clicking on Advanced Search, and using the pulldown menu to search for Mississippi State University under "School Name/Code"

Reserve Items

Come to the Information Desk to request reserve items. Instructors: Contact us to place items on reserve.

Open Reserve items - including all DVM and VMT textbooks and the Veterinary Clinics of North America series - can be borrowed and taken from the library for two hours.
Closed Reserve items are books, videos, etc. which have been placed on Reserve in the library by a professor for students to access. Closed Reserve items may be checked out and used in the library for 2 hours.

Visit the Information Desk with your questions, or contact us to schedule a one-on-one research consultation, literature review, database search, or reference query.

Instruction Sessions and Library Orientation

We can integrate a library instruction session into your graduate seminar or undergraduate class in the CVM Library or during your class meeting.

Guest Library Access

CVM alumni, practicing veterinarians, visiting scholars, and community members can request guest access to use databases and check out materials.

Externship Database

DVM students: Find externship opportunities using the Externship Database. Access the Database from any computer in our lab.

Internet Access

Connect your laptop or mobile device wirelessly to the campus network (ask at the Information Desk for the password), or use one of our ethernet hookups for a more secure connection.

Computer Lab

14 PCs, 3 printers (1 color, 2 B&W) and a scanner.

Print, Scan, Copy, Fax

Print and copy documents for $0.05/pg ($0.20 for color). Send and receive faxes.

Group Study Rooms

Our 4 study rooms accommodate up to 4 people and are equipped with white boards, TV/DVD/VCR, or 42" flat-screen monitors. To reserve, call us at (662) 325-1256 or visit the Information Desk.

Conference Room

Our conference room accommodates up to 10 people and is equipped with a 42" flat-screen monitor. To reserve, call us at (662) 325-1256 or visit the Information Desk.

CVM Library Classroom

The CVM Library Classroom is equipped with a 70” flat-screen monitor. Contact Jenny Burns or the Office of Academic Affairs at (662)-325-1078 for more information or to make a reservation.
